“Siamo uomini o caporali?” (“Are we men or corporals?” a quote from an ancient Totò film) is open-air exhibition on “caporalato”, a colloquial term for the illegal recruitment and employment of workers, especially in agriculture. It makes the visitors imagine themselves in the place of a victim laborer, in order to help understand this system of exploitation, often perceived as distant and unimaginable.
The exposition is mounted at Cascina Arzilla, a former farm confiscated to the ‘ndrangheta in the rural town of Volvera, in Piedmont.
